We have been learning about shapes in KD.
On Friday we made some sensational shape pictures with Mrs Warner.
KD Shape Pictures on PhotoPeach
Today KD was full of `Shape Investigators’ . We used the shape blocks and counted how many sides and how many corners they have and then worked together to sort them out.
We had some fun searching for shapes in this game on the smartboard.
We discovered that shapes are all around us. We looked carefully around our room for circles and then drew them in our maths books. We noticed the clock, the middle part of a flower, the bottom of a bell, the holes in the sharpener, the door knob, the magnets – there were circles everywhere! We will search for triangles, rectangles and squares next.
Look around – what shapes can you see?

Hi KD,
WOW – this is fantastic work ! We all really enjoyed looking at your amaing shape pictures in class today. You obviously thought really carefully about your designs. We were thinking about shape before the holidays and looked at which shapes could tesselate – can you find any tessellating shapes when you look around?

Hi Mrs Thompson and Hawworth kids,
The children did have to think carefully about their designs. There are so many things that you can create with shapes – the possibilities are endless! You are very clever to be learning about tessellating shapes. We will learn about those later. We have been looking carefully at the properties of 2D shapes – how many sides, how many corners, what kind of line (straight, curved) and where we can find the shape in the environment around us. We have found them in all sorts of amazing places!
Have you made any shape picture in your class?
