This week we are busy looking at some new letters and the sounds that they make.
We have been having fun playing the `Buried Treasure’ game on the smartboard (using the letters that we are learning). We take turns to say the sounds on each coin and blend them together to read the words. It is a bit tricky but we are getting better everyday! If the word is a real word we put it in the treasure chest. If the word is a nonsense word it goes into the garbage bin. Click the picture to play it at home.
We also love counting and have been practising everyday. Ms Dowling tries to find fun songs for us to count along with.
We can count forwards …
….. and backwards.
Do you have a favourite counting song to share with us?
Can you think of any words that begin with the sound `i’?
Can you think of any words that begin with the sound `n’?
Can you think of any words that begin with the sound `m’?
Can you think of any words that begin with the sound `d’?

Hi Lachlan,
Well done! You have thought of words for each of the sounds. Did you teach your Mum about `Lips the fish’ and how we get our mouths ready to say the beginning sound when we are reading a word?

Hi Dean, Caitlin, Daniel and Kara,
You all did a great job thinking of words to add to our collection! Did you get your mouths ready to say the first sound like `Lips the fish’?
I’m glad to hear that you all like the counting songs too. Did you read the comment from Anna and Room 4? They have been dancing and singing along like us.

Hi Room 4,
Thanks for visiting! It has been a long time – we have been so busy and are very sorry that we haven’t been to visit you for a while! We definitely do dance and sing. Ms Dowling thinks that it might be fun to video the class because they are very good at standing straight, with their hands by their sides and their feet in the middle whilst they count and then suddenly they DANCE! It is a fun way to practise counting. Do you have any counting songs that you love?
