`Me’ Portraits
The KD Kids have been very busy working on their self portraits as part of our COGs unit `Me’. Ms Dowling found a great idea for creating them on one of her favourite art sites.
We used the mirrors to look closely at our faces and draw each of the features. It took a long time to cut them out carefully and place them in just the right spot on our face. Adding the hair was a bit tricky because our fingers were so sticky with all the glue we used!
Have you ever drawn a self portait?

KD, your self portraits are wonderful. You should be very proud of yourselves. You can’t help smiling when looking at these fantastic pictures and listening to this happy song!

Hi KD
Room 3 thinks that you all made a great job of your portraits. You must have studied the mirrors very carefully because there are so many likenesses.
We can totally agree with you how messy it gets when you are using wool and glue. We had the same problem last year when we made our Rugby World Cup walking photo frames. You end with more wool on your fingers than on the page!
The backing song and the images just made us smile. Thanks for making our day.

Wow KD,
I teach Prep students in Melbourne and I think that you have all done a wonderful job! It is such a good idea to use a mirror! Was it tricky? Do you think I should try it with my students? What was the most difficult part? What was the easiest?
Please let me know, the Prep students would appreciate your tips.
We would also love it if you came to visit our blog too!

Hi KD Kids,
We thought your portraits were amazing and awesome. Most of the people in our class (1S) have drawn self-portrait. Thank you for sharing your work with us.

Hi KD Kids,
I loved your portraits a lot because they were cute and sweet and funny. I have made a portrait of myself at art class. Do you have art class?

Hi 1S,
Thanks for your kind words about our portraits. We have them hanging in our room and they look great. This is the first time we have tried creating our portrait with collage materials and although it took a while to put together, we love the way that they turned out. Did you use mirrors to check your features when you drew your self portraits?

Hi Sarah,
We don’t have a special class for art, we just do it in our classroom sometimes. Do you have an art class at school or do you do that after school?
Have you made any other interesting artworks in art class?
