Happy 125th Birthday Helensburgh Public School!
Last Friday our school celebrated 125 years with a special assembly and some celebrations. There were lots of important visitors and our Principal welcomed them to our assembly.
We were really excited because hidden under our playground was a time capsule from 25 years ago and because it was such a special day we got dig it up. Inside there were lots of different things like a sports t-shirt, tennis ball, student work and photographs. We will get to have a really good look at these things when we next visit the library.
Ms Dowling was very proud of us because we sat very still and listened carefully.
At the end of the assembly we even got a present!
Can you guess what it was?

How wonderful and exciting!! I remember when I was little like you, my school put in a time capsule! I often wonder what would be in it now… I’m glad you all had a great day celebrating 125 years of Helensburgh Public School

Well done KD! I love the cookie – I’m sure they were very yummy! Noah ate all his before he got home so I didn’t get a taste.
What would KD students have put in a time capsule I wonder?

Dear Ms Dowling and KD
Happy Birthday to your school! 125 years old is a grand age.
Our town celebrated 100 years of education in our town a few years ago, but the actual school buildings aren’t that old.
The cake looks fabulous. Did you get a piece of cake each?

Hi Naomi,
If we had a time capsule we would put all sorts of things inside like:
*a lego person (Blake)
*a sports uniform (Oscar)
*a picture of the world (Mia)
* writing about our class (Tye)
* a picture of our smartboard (Phoebe)
*a picture of the mine (Lachlan)
*a picture of KD and the playground (Noah)
*a Helensburgh Public School Newsletter (Daniel)
What would you put into the time capsule?
