We have been playing lots of maths games together this term and using the tens frames to learn help us learn about combinations to ten.
Parents might like to watch this to learn more about the tens frame.
We want to learn to `instantly recall’ our addition facts to ten – that means we have to say the answer quickly! We try to `visualise’ the tens frame to help us. Some of us use our fingers to help us work out the answer too (for an extra challenge see if you can put your fingers behind your back as you are working out your answer).
Here is a fun game for you practise your combinations to ten. (Don’t forget to practise more maths games on the `websites for kids’ tab too. New games are being added all the time!)
What combinations to ten do you know?

Hi Miss Dowling and KD. It’s Tahina here. I am in Queensland and I just watched the show about tenframes. Mummy is going to help me do some counting tonight. I am missing school and I am missing my best friends Kara, Jade, Mia, Kirra, Emily and Phoebe. We went to Wet n Wild World and I went on a huge green slide. I came down meditating and then I went in the water. Today I went to Movie World. I saw Ice Age in 4D and the dinosaur kept on spitting on me and the chairs bumped up and down when the dinosaurs stomped and the dinosaurs felt like they were coming out of the tv. We also saw stunt car racing and a motorbike cut a car in half. There was also a car that went into a house and then the house got on fire and I felt the hot fire. I was waving my hand around because it was so hot. My favourite ride is the Atom roller coaster. It was really fast and I was putting both my hands up in the air. See you on Thursday. Love Tahina.
